According to water experts, AquaTru Reverse Osmosis (RO) water filtration system offers clean and pure water for you and your family. Regular tap water often looks clean and clear but is it really safe to drink? We take our on-demand water for granted or perhaps we are grateful to accept it as-is out of the tap, as we compare ourselves to those in other parts of the world who don’t have access to enough water.
Water is 50 to 70 percent of our body weight and is the second most essential nutrient after oxygen. It plays a role in numerous physiological functions including cellular hydration, lubrication of tissues such as the joints, cooling, delivery of biochemistry, and elimination of toxins. If we are dehydrated, detoxification is impaired as we become constipated and urinate less often. However, to avoid re-toxifying ourselves, we need to take responsibility for both the quantity and quality. Consider too, that you may be drinking enough water, but if you are drinking tap water that is deficient in minerals and trace elements the water won’t properly hydrate your cells.
The Truth About Tap Water
The hard truth is that drinking straight, untreated tap water is no longer an option, even in the developed world. Read the article HoneyColony co-founder Maryam Henein wrote on water pollution, interviewing Erin Brockovich. When environmental degradation was at its peak in the USA, the Clean Water Act of 1972 and the Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974 were passed, aiming to protect us from exposure to water-borne contaminants — which now number in the hundreds. Sadly, one in four Americans drinks from public water systems that violate the Safe Drinking Water Act. These violations can be anything from lead (a neurological toxin), leached from water distribution pipes to fecal bacteria contamination. To make things even worse, approximately half of the 190+ pollutants identified in our nation’s water supplies are not regulated. The primary reason for this situation is that communities, large and small, do not have the financial resources to implement technology capable of reducing these contaminants to safe levels.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has found widespread violations of federal drinking water standards, with contaminants varying by region. Pesticides, chemicals from petroleum and plastics, pharmaceutical drugs (EDC’s), personal care products (PPCP’s), heavy metals, disinfection byproducts DBP’s, chloramines, fluoride, and numerous others are known to exist in American water supplies. For example, tap water in Beverly Hills contains nine contaminants present in levels above health guidelines. These include arsenic, radiological contaminants, and trichloroacetic acid, and are all linked to cancer.
On the other side of the USA, the New York City public water supply, which serves almost nine million people, contains six substances that breach selected health guidelines and eight others. All six were, once again, carcinogens, including hexavalent chromium, and chloroform. If you think hexavalent chromium sounds familiar, you’re right – it is the “Erin Brockovich” chemical, infamous for causing cancer in children. Overall, the EWG found more than 250 chemicals in American drinking water, with 81 percent of water systems containing carcinogens and 77 percent containing hexavalent chromium.
A study by EWG scientists, published recently in the journal Environmental Health, estimates that the pollutants in California tap water could cause approximately 221 cancer cases every year. Interestingly, 85 percent of these cases come from toxins present in levels below their legal limits. Medical experts point out that these are typically assessed by officials one by one for carcinogenic and other harmful effects, instead of together in combinations found in the real world.
Besides cancer, the contaminants in drinking water can also contribute to neurological problems, such as debilitating Alzheimer’s disease. The EWG found that 71 million Americans are exposed to unhealthy and often illegal levels of arsenic, which negatively affects verbal skills, cognitive functions, such as planning and problem-solving, and mood regulation. Mercury exposure was shown to affect 2.7 million, which is a potent neurotoxin. Sometimes, regulations are non-existent, others are poorly or intermittently enforced.

What About Bottled Water?
While it may look attractive as an immediate solution, bottled water has its own problems. When researchers tested 250 bottles of water from nine countries, including Kenya, Thailand, and the USA, plastic microparticles were found in 93 percent of the samples! Chemicals in plastic, such as phthalates and BPA, have been linked to serious health issues, including autism, ADHD, infertility, and some cancers. The cost of bottled water is also expensive in the long-term and contributes to one of the worst pollution crises.
Aquatru Filtration System: 3 Health Influencers Who Use It For Pure Water
Taking responsibility for our water is more important than ever, but with so many filters on the market which is the best? Many prominent health influencers agree on the AquaTru filter, a user-friendly countertop Reverse Osmosis water system that provides pure water.
1. Robert Slovak, The Grandfather Of Reverse Osmosis
Robert Slovak, a water scientist of more than 40 years, has written hundreds of articles and presentations on water technology and pure water quality for both drinking and bathing. He offers the following advice to consumers and health professionals alike:
It is important to establish that water is known as the universal solvent … it dissolves good things, such as healthful minerals, but it will also dissolve unhealthful contaminants … from natural sources, or modern industrial and agricultural activities.
There are a number of ways to address contaminants in the public water supply, but two technologies – distillation plus activated carbon and Reverse Osmosis plus activated carbon — are unrivaled with respect to their efficacy in reducing the most contaminants in every category. Reverse Osmosis, however, is a more user-friendly and economical technology than distillation.
In Slovak’s expert opinion, there is no better example of this than the AquaTru Reverse Osmosis drinking water filtration system.
When asked why there are so many issues with public water supplies, Slovak states:
Because less than two percent of the water delivered to the average home is used for consumption, it is impractical and economically unfeasible to treat the entire public water supply. It makes much more sense to rely on AquaTru’s 4-stage RO technology to remove the contaminants from the water we actually consume.
Slovak adds this important recommendation:
Since Reverse Osmosis removes virtually everything from water, it is an excellent opportunity to fortify the family’s drinking water with the perfect balance of over 70 minerals & trace elements. QuintEssential 3.3 (vials or sachets), harvested from the sea, is simply the best available mineral & trace element supplement for adding to RO or distilled drinking water.
2. Erin Brokovitch, Environmental Crusader
Erin Brokovitch is internationally well-known for her 1996 fight against California’s Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), thanks to the self-titled movie made about her story. Over 20 years later, she is still a fierce supporter of clean and pure water and continues to warn us all about sources of environmental pollution that can find their way into drinking supplies. And some toxins, such as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), are contaminating our water largely because of our desire for convenience:
PFOA is a manufactured chemical that may be best known as Teflon, the non-stick substance on pans. It’s part of a broad class of thousands of man-made chemicals called PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances), that can be stain-proof, waterproof, and fireproof.
These chemicals are, alarmingly, difficult to break down and detoxify. According to Brocovitch, they leach into our environment and stay there for thousands of years and then get into our bloodstream and build up.
When we asked Erin what she thought of AquaTru, she responded:
I like AquaTru because it’s a counter top reverse osmosis system that doesn’t require any plumbing or installation. Reverse osmosis is like bottled water — quality water, without creating plastic waste — and at this moment is the safest, most practical way to remove impurities from tap water. Filter pitchers just don’t do the job because no two water sources are the same, so they require different filtration. AquaTru removes almost all contaminants including PFOS. My family has been drinking water from the AquaTru ever since the company contacted me and it’s the first time I can remember confidently drinking tap water.
3. Dr. Mark Hyman, Functional Medicine Expert
Dr. Mark Hyman, director of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, recommends AquaTru and uses it in his home. He strongly advises against cheaper, low-tech pitcher filters which are no match for the many complex contaminants found in today’s water supplies. Common activated carbon filters may be effective in removing some chlorine compounds and improve taste, but they do not remove more serious contaminants.
Dr. Hyman lists some of these contaminants as “Lead, Chromium VI, disinfection byproducts (carcinogens), perchlorate (rocket fuel chemical), MTBE (a gasoline additive), and prescription drugs (think anti-depressants and hormones from birth control).”
He further comments: “The scary fact is that many of these contaminants have been shown to cause cancer, birth defects, cardiovascular disease, reproductive problems, and more.”
Countertop Ease And Pure Water Perfected
Most RO drinking water systems are installed under the kitchen sink and are expensive to install and maintain. Most alarming is the little-known fact that the sealed storage tanks used in these systems become contaminated with high levels of bacteria. Then, if you forget to change the filters, which so many people do, you could potentially have worse quality water than you started with.
The patented AquaTru countertop is superior because it comes with a 4-stage RO system that requires NO installation or plumbing connection to a water supply. Furthermore, it is far more efficient in conserving water than any other RO system and removes over 15 times more contaminants than popular activated carbon water filters.
It is clear that if we want to support and optimize our health, we must drink pure water that is free of contaminants. The remarkable AquaTru is the overwhelming choice of water experts, water scientists, health professionals, and clean and pure water activists the world over.
