Ozone therapy is rising in popularity, but many people question its safety and effectiveness. In 1985, after being diagnosed with colon cancer, it’s alleged that President Ronald Reagan, bypassing the traditional treatment of Western medicine, went to Germany in order to receive ozone therapy. Western medicine focuses on destroying problematic cells instead of curing the root cause of cancer; this is said to have extended Reagan’s life an additional 19 years. Many who support alternative medicine believe there are all-natural methods for curing disease — ozone therapy being one. Let’s take a look at what type of role oxygen plays in your health and the reasons why people opt for ozone treatments.

We all know how crucial it is for us to breathe oxygen. However, very few people realize how important it is for every cell in your body to be properly oxygenated. Every chemical reaction in your body relies on oxygen. Oxygen provides energy to metabolize carbohydrates, regulates your pH, fights hostile organisms, nourishes cells, and flushes your cells of toxins and other harmful substances.

Cellular Oxidation

Oxygen combines with different elements in your body to “burn” them down so that your metabolism can function healthily. Oxygen also helps your blood circulate properly, aids in the digestion and elimination processes, and allows for nutrients to be assimilated. Through cellular oxidation, your blood is continuously purified from toxic cellular waste. The process strengthens the immune system, enhances the nervous system, and allows for recuperation.

But Don’t We Get Enough Oxygen from Breathing?

Unfortunately, the amount of oxygen in our atmosphere has been rapidly decreasing, due to the excess of carbon dioxide. Only two hundred years ago, there was 38 percent oxygen and 1 percent carbon dioxide in the air. Currently, the air in most places consists of 19 percent oxygen and 25 percent carbon dioxide. In some big cities, such as Athens and Mexico City, oxygen levels can drop below 15 percent! Thus, our atmosphere simply doesn’t provide us with as much oxygen as we need in order to function at optimal levels.

Just How Bad Can It Get?

When there is a high level of oxygen in an environment, viruses, amoebas, parasites, fungus, or bacteria can’t exist. These hostile organisms are responsible for the development of disease and health issues such as arthritis, ulcers, and diabetes. Thus, lack of proper oxygen levels in your body leads to the development of potentially serious health problems.

Supplementing Oxygen

There are several ways to supplement ozone to your body, and all have excellent health results. Some methods are more affordable than others, however.

Oxygen bars charge lofty prices for people to come breathe from a face mask, nasal cannulas, demand valves, or non-rebreather masks. The devices provide 30-100 percent inhaled oxygen concentrates. Hyperbaric chambers, huge tanks where a person is placed and then pressurized, also provide elevated oxygen saturation. These treatments have been clinically proven to help with the healing process with burn patients, certain types of cancer, carbon monoxide poising, anemia, gangrene, and wounds. Many Hollywood personalities make regular use of such chambers.

Ozone Therapy: Its History And Uses

Another, more affordable way to benefit from these healing benefits is to use activated oxygen, known as ozone. In ozone, oxygen is activated when an electrical charge is added to it. Ozone contains three oxygen atoms, as opposed to two. Since this makes it heavier than oxygen, it becomes a powerful healing agent, destroying pollutants, bacteria, viruses, odors, and free radicals.

Ozone was discovered in ancient times. The Dutch physicist, Martinus Van Marum, was the first to discover ozone in the Western world. It was only in 1840 that the German chemist Christian Friedrich Schönbein figured out how to synthesize it. Ozone literally means “angel’s breath” in German – that’s how much the scientist believed in its power. During World War I, ozone was used to disinfect wounds and cleanse blood before blood transfusions. In Germany, ozone has been applied to human health for 50 years. German literature features over 3,000 medical references demonstrating the safety and effectiveness of ozone. Seven thousand European doctors use medical ozone with their patients.

Skewing the Narrative on Ozone

However, the FDA has prevented human testing of ozone and has been virulently against ozone treatments and won’t issue any ozone-generating device approvals — however, they can still be purchased online. As with so many other natural medicines and therapies, the FDA manipulates the rare cases where ozone was improperly applied with negative results in order to raise fear and persecute ozone practitioners. It is important to note that there have been no legitimate studies that prove ozone doesn’t work.

An ozone practitioner who wishes to remain anonymous (because the FDA is vindictive) explains that “oxidizing your body provides a deep cellular cleanse for the system in order to oxidize viruses, bacteria metal and mold.” She has seen ozone provide amazing results with patients who’ve suffered from gangrene, strokes, STDs, and cancer. Ozone can be used both preventatively and as a treatment. It is more effective when taken regularly. Drinking ozonated water is a great way to make sure you’re getting regular supplements of ozone – but you need an ozone generator for that. You can also have ozone administered intravenously.

One of the easiest and most effective ways of getting ozone into your system is to apply it topically, through creams and ointments. HoneyColony created No3urish with the idea of fusing the power of all-natural bee by-products and ozone in order to create an affordable and easy solution for ozone therapy anywhere. The practitioner we spoke of believes “topical application of ozone goes deeper in the bloodstream than internal ingestion of ozone. This is the strongest way to get ozone into your system.”
