Hot or not? Researchers conducted a study to determine what women want in a man—great looks, macho features, flat abs, strong immune systems? And the winner is: weight.

Study researcher Vinet Coetzee, a postdoctoral scientist at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, told LiveScience that fatness “is an obvious choice for a marker of immunity because of its strong association with health and immunity.”

The 29 heterosexual women who participated in the study were in the fertile phase of their menstruation when they were given photographs of an array of men to judge.

According to the Huffington Post, “The results revealed that fatness, as measured with facial adiposity, was linked to both antibody response and attractiveness, with pudgier men both having weaker immune systems and being seen as less appealing by the fertile women.”
